This year, we're holding our 39th (and fabulous!) birthday party at the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) in the 9th Street Independent Film Center. CAAM has long been a partner and supporter of AND, and we recently provided architectural facility and space planning services for CAAM's offices.

Former ETC Student Keenia Williams To Be Nationally Recognized For Her Bravery

In October 2011, Ms. Williams bravely risked her life to save truck driver Michael Finerty from the flames of a freeway crash for which she received a Good Samaritan Award from Mayor Ed Lee. Now, she is one of 20 finalists for The Citizen Before Self Award , which is the highest honor a non - military, everyday citizen can receive from the White House. We couldn't be more proud of Keenia.

Making AND's 38th Anniversary Party The Place to Be on September 15th

Before we start celebrating, we'd like to take the time to acknowledge and thank those that help make this event truly stellar.

As part of the Affordable Space Program at SOMArts, which is supported by the San Francisco Arts Commission, our event will be held at SOMArts at 934 Brannan Street. To learn more about this space and the great work this organization does, you can find out more about SOMArts here!

Keeping us on the dance floor is a band called Los Chiles Verdes, comprised of 16 young musicians, ranging from 8 to 14 years old. Los Chiles Verdes is led by our good friends Jose Leon and Tony Price, with assist by our former Employment Training instructor, Gil DeAnda.

And of course, feeding us very well is Above & Beyond Catering

Lastly and notably, for our 38th year, we are taking the time to honor a very special board member, Ed Oshika for his 30 years of service on AND's Board. Please join us to celebrate both milestones of commitment to community! We can hardly wait.

We are pleased to welcome Maritza Delgadillo (L.E.E.D. Accredited Professional) as Principal Architect Consultant supporting Harry Ja Wong (AND Principal Architect) and the organization’s Architecture Team. Maritza is currently the Principal and Sole Proprietor of Diseño - an architectural firm established in 1989 - and has provided architectural services to public and private clients since 1976. Her services have ranged from planning and feasibility studies to complete architectural services from schematic design through construction administration, interior design and furniture specifications. Project types include in-house architectural services for public agencies, low-rise commercial and mixed-use buildings, athletic facilities, health care facilities, transportation terminals and headquarters, educational renovation, day care and residential design. Some of her accomplishments include the modernization of 6 schools in the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District, design projects for the University of California, modernization of the William R. DeAvila Elementary School (San Francisco), design of the Los Medanos Child Care Center (West Pittsburg, CA), and design and construction of the John O’Connell Technical High School (San Francisco). Maritza holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

Rally to Save GoSolarSF - May 19th!

Join us for a rally outside of City Hall on Thursday to save GoSolarSF - one of the nation's most successful green programs.

In just two years, GoSolarSF has:

- quadrupled the number of solar roofs in the city
- created scores of new green jobs
- attracted nearly a dozen new solar companies to San Francisco
- helped create more than 5 megawatts of new green solar power
- and data from the Assessor's office shows that once the new solar homes are sold, the city gains more than $2,000 per home in increased property taxes because homes with solar are more valuable.

So you would think that such a stellar success would be expanding?

Unfortunately, you would be wrong - the city is proposing to cut the successful program by 40%.
