The proposed San Francisco Police Department Substation was designed by Asian Neighborhood Design in collaboration with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, Urban Solutions and SFPD. The proposed police substation, supported by Mayor Ed Lee, Supervisor Jane Kim, and the Sixth St. community, will transform the vacant 1,932 square-foot retail space located at the bottom of the Baldwin Hotel into new office spaces, conference/kitchen area, accessible bathrooms, men’s and women’s lockers, and showers. There will be no holding cells or detaining spaces at this particular substation. By increasing police presence in the challenging area of Sixth St., the goal is to reduce criminal activity and protect local businesses and people of this community.
