The Family Apartments at 555 Ellis Street are 38 units of new construction for low income senior and family housing. The five-story building was developed jointly by San Francisco Network Ministries and Asian Neighborhood Design in the Tenderloin to provide much needed family housing and to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. The four-story wood frame structure over a one story concrete podium is finished in stucco and designed with bays complementary to the surrounding neighborhood and the Bay Area Regional Style. The project has two community rooms, a computer lab, an outdoor garden with play structure, a meditative garden and a rooftop garden. The ground floor is home to San Francisco Network Ministries’ offices, community meeting rooms, counseling and tutorial services, parking, laundry and a library for the tenants.
