Employment Training AND Employment Training, began 27 years ago, provides comprehensive training in the construction field to low-income youth and young adults so they attain necessary life and employment skills to achieve self-sufficiency. Annually, 60-80 trainees acquire construction skills, remedial education, and GED preparation. More importantly, the training provides lessons in history, mathematics, critical life skills, financial literacy, money management, and conflict resolution. The targeted populations for AND Employment Training are individuals facing multiple barriers to employment. The barriers include being low income, being high school dropouts, having limited English proficiency and math skills, being a single parent, and being former offenders in the juvenile justice system. These barriers disproportionately affect communities of color. Approximately 50% of AND Employment Training clients are African American; 30% Hispanic; 10% Asian American; 5% Caucasian; 5% Other. Approximately 60% of trainees are between the ages of 17-21. 100% of our trainees are low-income individuals. >> more contact: Jamie Brewster at (415) 575-0423 ext. 201 |
